So the last reenactment has come, and I'm moving on to new stuff, new costumed events, new books - new everything - at 80.
Chadd's Ford and Sandi Johnson showed what an ideal historical event should be.
How I wish that all event planners knew the essentials listed below:
Chadd's Ford and Sandi Johnson showed what an ideal historical event should be.
How I wish that all event planners knew the essentials listed below:
- Music in several venues on the site - or even just one! But you have to have it. No exceptions allowed, even if period music plays over the sound system.
- Tents/vendors far enough apart that snores and sales pitches are not heard by neighbors
- The "new" extra-size porta-johns wherein a lady en costume feels comfortable should her skirts touch the perfectly dry floor.
- Multiple food sources.
- A clear radio-announcer-type voice narrating the timeline of the battle during the reenactment.
- One cannot emphasize enough that cheap sound systems don't help anyone!
- Almost never does a promoter reach out after the event, but Sandi did. I was unable to suggest anything to improve... except maybe Sunday's weather....
